Heidi Juenger, founder and director or Spirit of Pilates, Inc. is certified in Pilates and offers Pilates programs to empower her clients to be in control of their own health and well being. Her goal is to make the benefits of Pilates accessible to everyone and to help students gain freedom of movement within their bodies. Heidi prides herself in learning from some of the finest teachers in the industry and enjoys working with others as they learn body awareness and use it to further their health.

Heidi has earned certifications from Synergy Systems, Inc., Integrated Teacher Training (ITT) and Body Arts and Science International (BASI).

Heidi's initial studies, under Cathie Murakami of Synergy Systems, Inc., were an insightful and wonderful way to be introduced to Pilates. Heidi received her certifications in Pilates Mat Level 1 and Level 2 from Synergy Systems, Inc., her Personal Trainer Certification from ITT in addition to her Comprehensive Teacher Trainer certification from BASI. She is now offering private and semi-private personal training sessions. As part of the ITT program, Heidi has had the wonderful opportunity to work with Madeline Black, Leah Putnam, Joerg Chabowski, Debra Schubert and Jean Sullivan. She has most recently earned another certification through BASI, a teacher training program designed by Rael Isacowitz, which upholds the standards of the work of Joseph Pilates and teaches the essence of his philosophy. Rael is a widely known teacher of teachers and internationally recognized expert in the Pilates method.

Heidi was introduced to Pilates as a means to bring balance, strength, proper alignment, and stretching into her own life and decided to pursue this approach in physical conditioning exercise. She strongly believes in the importance of a mind-body connection in health. Heidi grew up in Southern California and lived in the San Francisco Bay area before moving to Bend, Oregon. She owned a bookkeeping business in the Bay Area and is an avid hiker and loves to be with nature. She is striving to achieve the ultimate in optimal health in her everyday life and looks forward to sharing her knowledge of Pilates with her clients.

Together with Heidi, Jim owns and manages Spirit of Pilates, Inc. He is a certified Pilates Instructor and a competitive cyclist.

He earned certifications from Synergy Systems, Inc. and through Body Arts and Science International (BASI) Comprehensive Teacher Trainer program.

Jim has developed a deep understanding of what it means to be strong, flexible and balanced. This understanding combined with his dedication to daily practice has made a profound difference in his life. The effects of a strong core and intercostal breathing, fundamentals of Pilates, have allowed Jim better efficiency while on the bike. The importance of keeping the core strong contributes to better balance and strength which are keys elements in cycling. Jim discovered how beneficial Pilates is to his own body and now wants to share that with others.

Jim grew up in Salt Lake City and lived in Moab, Utah for many years. He moved to Bend, Oregon after spending time in California and receiving a BS degree in Biology from UC Davis. He spends hours on the saddle, loves to be outdoors and enjoys the different seasons and the outdoor opportunities Bend offers.

"I didn’t think I could afford Pilates. That was before I turned 40, and before I took an honest look at what I was spending on doctors and physical therapists for my ongoing list of sports injuries. It was then that I realized that any way I cut it, I was paying somebody, and I might as well pay somebody to prevent injuries, rather than treat them. Pilates has helped me to strengthen not only my core, but my knees, hips, arms, shoulders—all of my injury-prone extremities. It feels great, it’s relaxing, and it’s fun. Thanks for the great work!"

"This year on my annual weeklong XC ski trip I realized how much stronger I was over past years. After a long day skiing I was still energized and ready to go the next day. Even my friends commented on how much stronger I skied. THANKS Pilates"
